Word Work Center

So a Dollar Tree opened up right by my house! Everytime I walk in I think up great activities for my kinder babes. Here is what I found this week for a great word work center.

The letters and bottles are from Dollar Tree. I had the glitter and dot stickers already.

I filled each little bottle with the letters to a sight word. Then I filled it up with the blue glitter. I added a dot sticker on the top and labeled the bottles 1-8.

Students will shake the bottles and find the letters. They will record all the letters they find on the recording sheet. They then will use those letters to write a sight word.

Here is my station all set up.

Winter

Well I must say I am enjoying my winter break! I hope all my teacher friends are relaxing and getting some much needed personal time.

I wanted to share a few things from the week before winter break. My students work so hard to get our classroom ready for my winter class party.

At the top: Students make a tare snowman with a pattern scarf

Left: Students make a Q- Tip snowman and write,
" If I were a snowman _____________."

Right: Name Snowmen

Here are a few stations the students did as well.

Students match the pictures with the correct beginning sounds. My Students love doing puzzles like these. You can find it at my Teachers Pay Teachers Store Here.

In this game the students roll a regular dot die. They cover up the sight word on their mat which corresponds to the number they rolled. The first person to fill their tree wins. You could use counters to cover the word on the tree mat.

This activity is fun for the students. Write sight words on white circles and put them in a bucket full of cotton balls. Students search for the sight words and record the ones they find.

Here is a game my students will do when we get back in January to practice their sight words.

Thanksgiving

Hello friends and welcome to my blog.

I am enjoying some family time and relaxation during my wonderful Thanksgiving Break. I hope all my teacher friends are getting a lot of rest.

I thought I would share a few things my Kinder Class did the week before thanksgiving. I love theme weeks and our Kindergarten throws a big feast on the last day before the break. The students work so hard all week preparing and learning about thanksgiving.

As a fun new classroom incentive my students earn feathers all week for good behavior. On Friday the students use their feathers to create their Native American Hat that they will wear to the feast. This is a great classroom management idea because I tell my students the more feathers the better their hat will look.

My students get one feather to write something they are thankful for. Look how sweet my class was this year.

All week we talk about the pilgrims and the first thanksgiving. After explore the pilgrims and what it was like living in America so long ago the students make a pilgrim craft. They then write what they would do if they were a pilgrim and glue it on their pilgrim.

Here is Mr. and Mrs. Johnson as Pilgrims!

My students also do a Thanksgiving Count the Room. You can get it here at my Teachers Pay Teachers site.

Here is the final product of my Kindergarten classroom. We are ready for the Thanksgiving Feast!
